Tracker placement is crucial for optimal network connectivity of tracking devices. Placing trackers in areas with strong network coverage improves accuracy and reliability of tracking data while reducing signal loss. Other factors, like physical environment, should also be considered. By strategically placing trackers, you can improve and maximize the capability of your tracking device and make informed decisions about your assets or vehicles.

The graphics and instructions below demonstrate some examples of typical placement for your tracker inside and outside of your vehicle.

Where is the best placement for the tracker (Outside the vehicle)?

  • For a secure attachment, it's recommended that you place the tracker on a flat metal surface to ensure that the magnet holds firmly.

  • It's advisable not to install the tracker in a location where it may be directly exposed to rain or other weather conditions. In most cases, installing the tracker underneath the vehicle is the preferred option.

  • It's crucial to avoid surfaces that could become hot while the vehicle is in motion, such as the exhaust system. It's recommended to select a cooler surface to mount the tracker for safety reasons.

  • It's highly recommended to install your tracker underneath the rear of the vehicle, where most vehicles have a metal "well" that provides ample space to securely mount the tracker. This location helps to protect the tracker from potential damage, while also helping to ensure a stable attachment to the vehicle.

Note: Please note that for live audio to work, the tracker must be inside the vehicle.

Where is the best placement for the tracker (Inside the vehicle)?

  • The quality of live audio you can achieve with the tracker will depend on the proximity of the device to the audio source. It's important to take into account any possible obstructions that may exist between the tracker and the audio source to ensure optimal audio quality.

  • You can mount the tracker on a metal surface such as a seat rail, but if you intend to mount it on a non-metal surface, it's recommended that you use a different method to secure the tracker. This is because the tracker's magnet is designed to adhere specifically to metal surfaces, and it may not work as effectively on non-metal surfaces. Therefore, to ensure the tracker stays securely in place, it's advisable to explore alternative mounting options.

  • Avoid placing the tracker inside the trunk of a vehicle since surrounding the device with metal will likely obstruct the tracker from receiving a signal. To ensure optimal performance, it's recommended to position the tracker in an area where it can receive a clear signal, and where there is not too much metal surrounding it.

  • Please refer to the graphic below for guidance on where to mount the tracker inside a vehicle. Keep in mind that the tracker will not function properly if placed inside a metal enclosure such as a trunk or toolbox due to potential signal obstructions.

Get the most out of your tracking device by placing it properly! By following our guidelines for both inside and outside placement, you can maximize your tracker's capabilities and make informed decisions about your assets or vehicles. Just remember to avoid signal-obstructing areas and choose a flat, non-metal surface for the best magnet attachment. With the right placement, you can ensure that your tracker is secure and functional, providing you with accurate and reliable data.
